We’re delighted that local artist Chris Richbell is returning to the Three Hares Gallery with an exhibition of her latest works, entitled ‘Water, water everywhere’.
Chris is a member and regular exhibitor with the Northampton Town and County Art Society and serves on their Council. She paints mainly in watercolour or acrylic, and sometimes with mixed media or pastels.
She is part of a group of painters from all over the country that annually enjoy painting together in Walberswick on the Suffolk coast. Painting outside, whatever the weather, brings a whole new meaning to watercolour! She also regularly goes to Cumbria, painting with a group in the Derwent Water area. And a highlight for her has been on an amazing painting trip on a working boat to the Arctic Circle.
She has illustrated a children’s book and also produced the front cover for a legal publication. In her spare time she has been restoring highly intricate painted ceilings in Abruzzo Italy.
Chris has won prizes locally and nationally with two awards from the Royal Watercolour Society in their 21st Century Open Exhibition that led to a very successful solo exhibition in London.
She has exhibited with The New English Art Club the Mall Gallery London, Bankside Gallery London, The Three Hares Gallery Olney, Alfred East Gallery Kettering, The Guildhall Gallery Northampton, Woburn Abbey, Lamport Hall, Gallery D’Art Dartmouth and has had work accepted by the Royal Academy.
She delights in the interplay of light and reflections as seen by her continued interest in the theme of wet London. She gets great pleasure from battling outside with her local river environment, which provides constantly changing opportunities for work.
