Wire Lace – Pin Ambrose
Tuesday, December 2, 2014 @ 10:30 am - Saturday, December 20, 2014 @ 4:30 pm
Working mainly with black copper wire, Pin uses bobbin lace stitches to create wire lace, producing results that bring texture and shape with changes of shade and depth. These wire structures are constructed using traditional methods using a lace pillow and flat head pins.
Lace prints mimic those intertwining wires in dyes, flocking and embossing. Pin takes her 3D wire lace back into 2D with the application of heat transfer print using disperse dyes, creating a unique print that marks pattern and structure. The process allows two very different prints to be produced, one like a photographic x-ray, the other a line print with a hand-drawn quality.
