Warm & Fiery by Naini
May 2 @ 10:30 am - May 31 @ 4:30 pm
We are pleased to welcome the return to the Three Hares Gallery of Naini Ahluwalia. During May, we are showing works by this exciting artist whose paintings capture the essence of life, using her favoured minimalist style and often using her bare hands. This results in a series of handcrafted oil-canvas paintings which are both unique and in high demand.
Naini began painting from a young age and had a lucky break when she was offered the opportunity to stage her first solo exhibition in 1991. The first show was critiqued by the top art critics of the time, the positive reviews for the self-taught artist coming as a surprise to her. This exhibition marked the beginning of an art career, during which Naini’s work has gained much popularity.
Naini’s paintings display a freedom of expression and depth that only comes from one well-versed with the subject and the medium. Aside from working in the depths of minimalist style, Naini, as a prolific painter, also works in other mediums and styles; these will be on display along with a commissioned portrait.
Commenting on plans for her exhibition, Naini says ‘I’m excited to be showcasing pieces of art that feature styles and colours that are impossible to tire of. Each piece has been lovingly created with my bare hands, connecting with the soul on a much deeper level. Pure and raw creativity’.
Painting has always been a passion for Naini, as she embarks on her journey of capturing the essence of life through everything she paints. What began with traditional brushes has evolved into her utilising only her bare hands, and, since then, the occasional palette knife, watercolours, charcoal, pen and ink, ink wash and pastels.
‘Painting takes me to a space of unspeakable serenity’, says Naini, ‘the more I painted with my bare hands, the more it just felt…right. I hope visitors to the exhibition will adore my work as much as I adored creating it’.
According to this self-taught artist, her art invokes healing and inner reflection. Her original, modern artworks have been gaining steady momentum over the year since she started on her creative journey in 1991.
Naini has exhibited over the years in India, Scotland, London and the USA. She has also had exclusive agent representation. Her work was selected for the 12th Cleveland International Drawing Biennale 1996 (UK). She regularly takes part in events and exhibits around the country, including St Ives and Cambridge. She also regularly exhibits with Biggleswade District Art Society (BDAS).
Paintings will be for sale at the exhibition. For collectors and those looking for something on a smaller scale, e.g. A4 size, can find open and limited edition prints. Commissions are welcome, be it something small or large, for home or office, either in a specific style or something new, including portraits from A4 size. Interested art enthusiasts can visit:
