Find the Cowper and Newton Museum represented at this 700 year old Cherry Fair in the St Peter and St Paul Church, Olney.

Come along to learn about the Cowper and Newton Museum’s project ‘Poor Law Records of Olney’ – insights into 18th century Olney life.  We have uncovered such historical gems as “sitting up with John Stratton, For Stratton’s coffin, charges for self and man to fetch the corpse, gave Robert Abraham to go with the cart, Nat Gee (grave digger) his fees, gave the carriers“.  Another reads “Mr Newton for an affidavit, Mrs Fallet (laying out) for Mr Fabrey’s burial, paid Love Thompson in the Small Pox, paid for clothes for Thomas Hooton’s son“, plus many more …
