Free Art Workshops with Emma Wilde @ The C & N Museum Workshop 2 Families (children 7-12 with accompanying adult)
Saturday, November 4, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
A Room with a View Art Workshops with Emma Wilde @ The C & N Museum Workshop 2 for Families (children 7-12 with accompanying adult)
These workshops take inspiration from artist Caroline Devine’s new sound installation ‘City of Things’ at CMK shopping centre from 6 October until 5 November which explores the voices and sounds of Milton Keynes, past and present. The installation includes work from local 18th century Olney poet William Cowper and his friend the Rev John Newton who wrote the hymn Amazing Grace. A website of the installation will also go live on 6th https://www.cityofthings.co.uk/
Taking a tour back in time at the Cowper & Newton Museum, we will use collage and experimental drawing techniques to build our own layers of history to describe through William Cowper’s eyes the life and sounds of his Georgian home here in Olney. (Please note that the Museum rooms are within the historic building and over 3 floors and 7 flights of stairs)
Did the floorboards creak when his pet hares hopped across the hall? Were the birds singing when he sat writing in the summer house? Was that the sound of the grandfather clock?
Our finished drawings and collected ephemera will be collaged and displayed in hand made frames that act as a window into rooms with a view.
These workshops are FREE to people with a valid Annual Pass on the day of the workshop.
