250 Years – The Cowper & Newton Story

September 14

250 years ago John Newton’s diary tells us that today in 1767 ‘Mr Cowper, Mrs and Miss Unwin came to reside here from Huntingdon.’

Today our costumed room guides are available throughout the day to share this story, as well as other stories linked to some of our key treasures.

Also look out for us around the town or sharing Mrs Unwin’s gingerbread …

At 2.00   The Road to Olney –  a 20 mins Talk by museum staff followed by Q&A and chat on the events around William Cowper coming to live in Olney, and the start of the friendship with John Newton which led to the writing of the hymn, Amazing Grace.

Usual admission applies.
